Commercial Interior Design and More

Our Superpower

Blackbird Design Resources examines projects, processes, and possibilities from all angles to optimize the qualities their clients seek in order to achieve a successful project. This superpower has very little to do with colors and everything to do with material selections, user experience, maintenance, future-proofing, and project budgets. To us, that's interior design.

Designing attractive spaces isn’t

rocket science.

But we treat your entire project like it is. We don't just 'pick pretty colors.' We address your space like a problem and offer solutions that suit all users' needs from your customer to your maintenance staff. Your finished space isn't a success if it only looks pretty for photos on our website.

Blackbird Design Resources' team considers a project a success if it:

  • makes the users feel inspired when experiencing the space

  • meets all functional needs

  • includes material that can be maintained using equipment and products your staff are comfortable with and are affordable

  • is going to look as good in five years as it did on opening day

  • allows you to make inexpensive upgrades in ten years to refresh the space and renew the excitement you had on day one

  • has a smooth construction/procurement phase

  • fits in your budget

  • leaves you happy with the process

If we achieve all of those things for you, your testimonial is worth 100 times more than a pretty picture to us.

Our Founder

Melissa Hall

IIDA, RID, NCIDQ, COEE, CHID

Melissa Hall is the Founder of Blackbird Design Resources and brings with her over 29 years in the commercial architecture and design industry serving a wide array of clients in the higher ed, K-12 schools, healthcare, workplace, industrial, municipal, and recreation segments.

Melissa's skills and vast experience include everything from new building interior design and existing building remodels to competitive furniture specification packages, facility finish standards packages, space planning, art consulting, and project management.

Working directly with architects for 25 years has positioned Melissa optimally to incorporate a building's interior elements seamlessly with the architecture and unmatched attention to detail.

Most recently (September 2025), Melissa earned her CHID certification from the American Association of Healthcare Interior Designers. The CHID credential is the industry’s recognized indicator of excellence, commitment, and knowledge within acute, ambulatory and residential care facility design. After countless design projects in hospitals, outpatient facilities, and long-term residential care facilities since 1997, it was high time she took the plunge. Melissa is now one of only two CHIDs in northeast Indiana.

Seriously. Fun.

Melissa's philosophy in all aspects of life is to weave an element of fun in everything she does.  Of course, weekends and vacations are fun.  Why can't work be fun?  It can.

Melissa strives to make the hours spent with her the best hours of her clients' day.  The work Blackbird Design Resources produces will show that even though the team is having fun, they take quality and client service very seriously.

Play Blackbird

Office Bingo in 2026

How to Win:

Experience the items in the boxes sometime during the month. When you do, mark them off. Get a bingo—that's 5 boxes in a row, any direction: up, down, sideways, or diagonal. (If you need further clarification, we should probably talk.) On the last day of each month, email or text a photo of your completed bingo card to Melissa. Each bingo = one entry in our highly sophisticated random drawing (we pull names from a hat).

The Loot:

Monthly Prize: A box of Girl Scout cookies! That's right, the good stuff. As a Trefoil-level sponsor of this year's "Empower Girls" cookie campaign, we scored 12 boxes of cookies. Could we hoard them all? Sure. But we're generous like that.

Fair warning: We make no promises about our self-control. By November, you might be getting Keebler knock-offs instead of Thin Mints. We apologize in advance.

2026 Grand Prize: A $100 gift card for YOU, plus Blackbird Design will donate $500 to the nonprofit organization of your choice. You win, they win, everybody wins! (Except maybe our accountant.)

Want More Chances to Win? Course You Do.

Snap a pic of your completed bingo card post it on Instagram, Facebook, and/or LinkedIn. Use the hashtag  #bingoblackbird  and tag  @blackbirddesignresources.

Each post on each platform = one bonus entry. Extra points for creativity in your post. Do the math—that's some serious winning potential.
