This is everything from color palettes to material selections, cabinetry design (you might hear us call it “casework”), ceiling plans, decorative lighting, furniture, artwork. We can work directly with your team or your chosen architect (even if they offer it in-house). Just tell them you want the interior design performed by Blackbird Design Resources.

Interior Remodel & Refresh
We love messy remodels. Sounds crazy, but as we said, interior design isn’t rocket science. We like the challenge of a messy remodel—you could say we ‘nerd out’ on them. We like pouring through your existing facility and identifying all of the little things that need to be addressed, and we make sure the construction documents call these items out so the bidders include them in their bids. We don’t like change orders any more than you do.

Quality Construction Documents
A good design needs to be flawlessly executed with quality construction documents. With our staffs’ 25+ years’ experience in commercial architecture, spending countless hours on job-sites, overseeing finished work, producing mind-numbing punch lists—we know what gets missed; we know what contractors 'skimp’ on; we know the basic level of craftsmanship that is provided unless your designer spells out the expectations in the construction documents.
It’s a very competitive bidding environment these days and if doing what they know is right prices them out of the competition, contractors have no choice but to bid the drawings ‘as is’. (meaning lowest quality standard if not stated otherwise). It is your designer’s responsibility to accurately communicate the design intent and level of quality expected in the drawings and specs so your bidders can confidently bid apples to apples against their competitors ensuring you receive quality at a competitive price and the design properly executed in your new built environment.

Blackbird Design Resources doesn’t design just for the pretty portfolio photo. We design for you. We design what fits your needs and achieves your goals.
We enjoy the challenge of working within your limits whether it be budget, re-using existing furniture, or specifying only quick-ship materials to meet a tight schedule.
BDR will also think about the future of your facility and be smart with your money. We won’t propose a trendy color or style in a material that will never wear out or in quantities that would be cost prohibitive to change.
Paint is easy to change. Carpet and fabric will wear out. Those materials are where we like to make a statement. We want you to have good bones to work with in the future so that means neutral colors on things like tile and solid surface countertops.
We know, no matter how awesome we design your space today, eventually those that come after us will want to remodel. Making smart, future-proof selections for the materials that are not easily or inexpensively updated is our standard.
