Why “Blackbird”?

The Beatles song, of course.

The lyrics of the song, Blackbird, have always spoken to me. I actually prefer the Sarah McLachlan remake over the Beatles version. I am a Gen-Xer and am too young to appreciate the Beatles revolution like my Boomer parents (sorry, not sorry). I do adore Sarah McLachlan very much though. Anyway, the lyrics are deep. I could never figure out why I felt such a connection with them but assumed someday it would all come together. I had been encouraged by clients, friends, and family to ‘go out on my own’ for the latter half of my professional career. When I made the decision to open my own firm—solo this time—it felt freeing. I felt like I had opened my eyes and could fly on my own now.
